A WAY TO TOTAL PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL BALANCE
Classes on ancient, Chinese movements for health and self-defense are being offered four consecutive Thursday evenings beginning Aug. 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Juniper Park, 800 NE Sixth St., Bend. The workshop will be taught by Futzu Dan Hickmond, the only living Master of Gohn Dagow Gung Fu, an ancient, classical, southern Chinese, soft, monk form of self defense that develops the mind and conditions the body. It is also a method of physical, mental, and spiritual development.
Each two-hour class will focus on one of the four aspects of Gohn Dagow. The cost is $60 for the eight-hour session or $20 for any two-hour class. Reservations are required, call 382-0673. Learn ancient movements to remove the cobwebs of doubt and indecision, relieve stress, balance the breath with the circulation, and achieve inner harmony and peace.
August 25: QIGONG
Discover your chi, the body’s inner energy, through the power of your breath. Learn movements to contact, control, and direct your chi, energize the circulatory system, cleanse the respiratory system, release energy blocks, and improve flexibility.
Sept. 1: CHUAN (CHINESE BOXING)
Develop the mind and condition the body while learning martial applications for hand and foot fighting techniques, for if you truly respect life, you learn to preserve it.
Sept. 8: CHIN NA (HOLDS AND BREAKS)
Learn to break holds, yield, and flow around resistance from one movement to the next, as the water in a stream flows around a rock.
